My son is off to Hockey Camp tomorrow, and wouldn't you know it his iPod, the essential travel companion, battery went dead. So I volunteered to make the trip up to the Apple Store at Garden State Plaza Mall. No doubt there will be an Apple Store in Montclair before long, but for now it is Paramus or Short Hills.
While there I got to play with the new iPhone. I am generally very hard to impress when it comes to new technology devices, but this one knocked my socks off.
It is awesome and will be on my must have list.
I am thinking about all the food and wine I can access.
One of the great features is full Internet access and a function for watching YouTube videos.
I can watch Gary Vaynerchuk on his great Wine Library TV. I can visit Zagat and find a great steak restaurant in New Jersey. Then I can use the built in GPS to find my way there.
Weather is available in case we are planning to dine outdoors, and on the way of course I can be listening to my favorite musics, which has almost become incidental in the amazingly full featured device.
I could check out the 100's of videos on Wine Spectator on-line. Or may be check out something funny like Borat does wine tasting in this video.
All this and much much more is accomplished through graceful navigation on an deliciously smooth touch screen. iPhone has got just about everything, oh wait, it is missing a cork screw.
