Another selection on our 2008 Summer wine list. This was recommended by one of the staff at Shopper's Vineyard.
Tonight, we are having pasta with a light sauce and grilled chicken, should be a perfect pairing.
Opened this up ad the first sip delivered an abundance of flavor. Nice nose fresh tropical scents with bitter orange and nut. This tastes like a winner. It has a lot of dimension and the flavor blossoms in the mouth like fresh fruit from the vine. It is silky and smooth with more body than most Pinot G.
Tenuta Luisa is a family vineyard established in 1927 in Corona - Mariano dei Friuli, they produce Reds, Cabernet Franc, Merlot,Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Whites Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon and a Tocai Friulano. I have had their Cab Franc and thought it was very good.
"The Luisa family first established Tenuta Luisa in 1927. The largest development
came in the late 1960s when Nella and Eddi, joined forces to bring together their farming expertise. Unity has always been the strength of this mission. This collaboration also includes the two brothers, Michele, an oenologist and Davide, an agricultural scientist, along with their respective wives, Federica and Elisa. Their greatest contribution includes interpreting new market trends by cleverly weaving their older generation wisdom with the vigor of the younger ones; including young Francesco and Giovanni, the family’s succession into the third millennium. This wine is "Pale straw yellow. Toasted nut, sage and exotic fruit: a wine of unexpected width and character. The absence of sulphuric acid and the controlled temperature during fermentation result in a fruity, complete and fascinating wine of elegant freshness. Great accompaniment to fish, poultry and vegetable dishes, appetizers, ham an fresh cheeses."--Winemaker Notes

I like it a lot, it is one of the best Pinot Grigios I have tasted in some time.
