Blue Fish Grill Flemington, NJ

Flemington

My son's travel hockey team took us to the Aspen Ice rink in Flemington, NJ. We decided to make a day of it and tour the charming town there.

Besides the many factory outlet stores that it is well known for, Flemington also has many attractive shops and restaurants all in a very historical victorian setting.

After a couple hours of shopping we had lunch at a terrific seafood place off Church Street called Blue Fish Grill and then checked out Little Brothers Beverage Outlet, a great wine store.

Enter Blue Fish Grill restaurant and you have one immediate question, where's the water. Seriously, this authentic seafood shack should be facing a bay or overlooking the beach.

BF_Front2Quaintly decorated with indoor and outdoor tables, Blue Fish Grill is wonderfully inviting. Not since one of my favorite restaurants "Fish Tales" in Barnegat Light, NJ closed a couple of years ago have I had a perfect sea shore lunch like this.

The menu contains all the standards, fish and chips, clam strips, catfish po-boys, lobster rolls and also offers a lot of interesting items like Asian salad with Ahi Tuna which is seared over the fragrant wood fired grill.

Burgers, chicken, steaks and some vegetarian items are available, but the focus is fish with delicacies like Hawaiian Butter Fish, Pacific Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, and more.

We enjoyed the Baja style Waho fish Tacos, they were delicious with a sparkling crispy slaw. Fries spiced with sugar and cayenne round out the meal. My son had the  Crab Bombers, which were yummy deep fried crab meat with mushrooms and a flavorful chili mayo.

The staff are warmly welcoming and attentive. The chefs, Stacy and Kelly Casanova , do their job well.

Open year round Blue Fish is a great place for lunch or dinner, bring your own wine or beer.

Little Brothers is a great wine and food store with a big selection at reasonable prices. It is on Church Street on the way out of town, near the cricle. I will be reporting on my buys there in the coming weeks.
