Hob Nob Pinot Noir
Wouldn't you know it. I find a cheap Pinot Noir I like and it turns out to be the last bottle in New Jersey.
During our trip to Flemington, NJ we stopped by Little Brothers Beverage Outlet.
I was originally drawn there because they had an incredible price on the Majito Zinfandel Panorama Blend, which I love, but I was out of luck they were sold out.
I picked up a dozen wines to try including this one called Hob Nob Pinot Noir which I opened with some delicious Chinese take-out, from T.S. Ma.
The description from the store read like this, "An elegant and silky Pinot Noir with an inviting bouquet of violets. Works well with prime rib or dishes that feature soy sauce. " So I thought to open it for the Chinese. It was great.
Unfortunately it was the last bottle at Little Brothers, though they have a vast stock of other wines. I looked for it elsewhere, on www.Vinquire.com, no hits, www.wine-searcher.com had some, but all in South Jersey. Is South Jersey part of New Jersey? UPDATE: 2/9/09 this wine is now available at Angelbeck's in Montclair, NJ
Hob Nob is an anomaly in French wine, the label looks Australian, the web site is something else entirely, filled with Web 2.0 gadgetry and far from the conventional French style. Part of a vast movement to market French wines to the global market place.
In any case this is a fun and exciting wine for 11-13 bucks. It goes great with Chinese food. Hope you have luck finding it. I really wonder what great French vineyard makes this wine.
And my Fortune Cookie Message: Today is a lucky day for those who remain cheerful and optimistic. I like that.
Wise words for the day. If you are feeling challnged in the positive think department, given the woes for the day, try this:
I was hoping to find some in Northern Jersey

I live in NJ and was able to order the Hob Nob wine from http://www.popswine.com
When you order it by the case, it comes out to a nice price. Can't seem to find it locally in Central NJ.
