This week we had burgers and fries before a movie at the newest outpost of the now famous Elevation Burger.
While many restaurants open in August as a soft start, using the usually quiet month to iron out kinks, Elevation Burger has hit the ground running and is delivering very fine burgers with an efficient and attentive staff.
This is fast food at its best. The burgers are superb, made with 100% organic, grass fed, free range beef.
You can adorn your burger with any combination of 12 toppings. I went for the caramelized onions, lettuce tomato and ketchup. The buns are soft and flavorful.
For the vegan set there are two vegetarian burgers that look pretty good. A salad and a grilled cheese sandwich are also on the menu.
The fries, which are fresh pealed and thin cut on site are great too. They are cooked in 100% olive oil, no nasty trans-fat here. A refreshing departure from the previously frozen fries you find elsewhere.
To quench our thirst we picked a micro-brew root beer. I forget the name but it was really delicious, just like the root beer my granddad made at home decades ago in Pennsylvania. Fountain sodas as well as Malts and Shakes made with fresh scooped ice cream are also available.
Lastly, don't miss the fresh baked chocolate chip oat meal cookies. They melt in your mouth and a perfect end for the meal.
My only disappointment was that they require cooking to medium well or well, I like my burgers medium rare, but the meat was so tender and delicious that I did not care.
Elevation was founded is 2002 by Hans Hess who after leaving California could not find the great burgers he enjoyed there. He and his wife April spent three years developing their burger and open their first restaurant in 2005 in Falls Church, Va. Elevation Montclair was opened after months of hard work by New Jerseyan, Matt Jerkovich and his friends Brian Edgar and Andy Herriott. They plan to open Elevation Burgers in Clifton, Paramus, Hoboken, Morristown, Red Bank, Summit and Westfield.
Every aspect of the restaurant has a view toward good healthy ingreidients and environmentally concious business practices. Ingredients Matter
