Like me you are probably running out to pick up some sparkling wine to toast in the New Year today. Here are some suggestions you might want to consider.
Keep in mind that Champagne is not your only option. There are many sparkling wines done in the champagne style that can't be named as such because of legal restrictions. There are also wonderful Cavas from Spain and Proseccos from Italy that make a great New Year's toast.
Here are some suggestions all very good values at their price of $15 to $20:
In Upper Montclair at Magnolias you can find a wonderful Cava, Marques de Gelida Cava Brut Exclusive Reserva and a California sparkling wine, Chandon Brut Classic, always a favorite. He also has some nice Prosecco.
If you feel like driving to Gary's in Wayne there is a wild selection of bargain sparkling wines on the Gary's Wine Home Page today. That will probably change tomorrow. One Prosecco I like is Nino Franco Rustico Prosecco di Valdobbiadene and a Cava Raventos I Blanc de Nit Cava.
Have a very happy New Years and please Drive Safely.
