The flourishing artful production and more importantly delicious consumption of Craft Beer is a huge trend that is growing like wildfire across the country. We really jumped into the flames this past year and are not cooling down any time soon.
I love the big interest that the Millennial Generation (Gen Y) has in craft brews as they grow out of their beer pong days. These bright people are engaged in creating, enjoying and promoting craft beer in a big way.
One of our favorite craft brewers is Weyerbacher Brewing Company of Easton, PA, yesterday we joined a bunch of Millennials, Boomers and some Xers at one of our favorite Tap Houses Twin Light in Highland, NJfor a Weyerbacher Tap Take Over. We drank a lot of very good ale and got to spend some time with the delightfully gregarious and charming Millennial beer geek Natalie Dechico, Weyerbacher's New Jersey Rep.
Natalie will be at an Amanti Vino/CulinAriane beer and food piring event on February 21st
There are many bars, tap houses and brew pubs around New Jersey that are hosting tap take overs, Twin Light is one of our favorites because we love the cozy atmosphere, friendly people, great beer, and great food.
Weyerbacher has been creating craft beer since 1995 and now sells their delicious brews in 18 states including most of the Atlantic coast states in addition to Ohio, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.
Natalie covers New Jersey and while has been enjoying beer at legal age for just 6 years she has been around brewing since she was a kid with her father who is an avid home brewer. Her interest in fine beers grew while studying for her teaching career in England where she enjoyed the local pubs. Last year she won the honored title title of Philly Beer Geek 2011.

We tasted 6 of Weyerbacher's beers that included:
Tango
"a festive combination of malts, Belgian yeast, and cherries. This dark chestnut brew has a nice caramel malt character, a tart cherry fruitiness and a nice warming finish."
Old Heathen
"Rich, velvety and deliciously complex, a wonderfully fruity nose and a moderately dry finish. The taste is highly complex with notes of espresso or chocolate."
Quad
"an elegant dark ale. Rich with complexity and flavor, best enjoyed in a brandy snifter or wineglass so you can drink in the aroma of this fine ale."
Fireside (My Favorite)
A seasonal ale released in January that is "an intricate dark ale with a touch of smokiness. The rich malt flavor, crisp bitterness and smoke reach perfect equilibrium in this brew."
and beer from a Firkin Hops Infusion
"Made with seven hop varieties, this deep copper-orange IPA is loaded with juicy hop notes of pine, lemon zest, and a layer of pink grapefruit and a strong foundation of toasted caramel malts underneath it all give this beer a complexity that’s unparalleled."
For dinner we had Twin Light's wonderful Tuna Tar Tar, we get this every time we are there it is so good. We also had a delicious special sausage platter with wonderful fresh mustard and home made hot pretzels nd a serving of the perfect fries.
