This review was originally posted in early June of 2011, since then many of our friends have dined at BES and raved about the food service and ambiance.
Breakfast is a pleasure, a delicious breakfast burrito, yogurt and fruit and some wonderful pastries and muffins are on the menu board. Great Columbian coffee and espresso drinks along with many creative smoothies are served.
The menu is ever changing and For breakfast you might also find dishes like the banana brioche French toast, a butter-based bread coated in a mix made with banana puree or the tofu scramble with wilted greens, onions, peppers and roasted mixed potatoes. There is a genuine commitment to natural healthy foods, locally sourced from farmers in NY, NJ, PA & DE.
The breakfast room is brightly decorated with the work of local artists. The sun pours through the windows and there is outdoor seating if you want more.
This year they are no longer serving lunch but instead focusing on the amazing dinner menu and creating a wonderful dining experience. Here is a sample here, Dinner Menu.
The menu is driven by what is coming from, seasonal and fresh, the farms, fisherman and the other local providers who they ardently support.
In the evening the table clothes and candles come out and Black-Eyed Susans does a Cinderella transformation and becomes an exquisite place for gourmet delights.
"Though the restaurant is not vegetarian - it serves free-range, grass-fed meats - it boasts a full slate of vegetarian and vegan options. "We offer gluten-free and we offer vegetarian, but we're not a vegetarian restaurant," Ashley Sanchez says. "Quality of product is really important to us," says Chris Sanchez, co-owner and chef.
