Shochu - The Exciting Spirit From Japan

I've heard of Shochu, the national spirit of Japan, but had never tasted it, until today. Apparently it is becoming all the rage in better Japanese restaurants and outstanding cocktail bars in metropolitan America. 

At a fabulous event held at the lovely Astor Center in downtown Manhattan 16 celebrated Shochu producers showed their stuff, Shochu neat and Shochu cocktails created by Junior Merino, The Liquid Chef, it was amazing.

Sushi Lounge Rocks - In Search of Sushi Part Two

We dined at Sushi Lounge last week to satisfy a raw desire for some good Sake and Sushi.

Sushi Lounge delivered well on both points. We were very happy as a trip to Nori in Montclair, last week left us disappointed.

Magnolia's - Upper Montclair

For over 12 years my friend John Finkel has operated the fine wine store in Upper Montclair called Magnolia's.

Through their excellent selection of special wines, frequent participation in Montclair fund-rasing events and a great wine of the month club, Magnolia's has a loyal following.

Ocha Neo Japanese and Sake

Just tried a new Japanese Restaurant in Caldwell called Ocha with friends. There are so many Japanese restaurants in the area. But this one is a real gem, we all loved it.
