Unlike many women in the Italian wine industry, Natalie Oliveros did not grow up in the fields, yet her love and gusto for Italian wine is no less intense. I had the fine opportunity of meeting Natalie and enjoying the wines that she and very accomplished wine maker Roberto Cipresso produce at La Fiorita in Montalcino, Italy.
Traveling an unlikely path, one of 5 children growing up in Watertown, NY, then a successful career as an entertainer, Natalie has found her true heart’s work in a place she loves, Montalcino.
She describes the beauty of the region, the precise demands of the harvest and the art and science of the cellar, in words I've heard from wine makers I’ve met who have decades of experience . She is clearly not simply a celebrity winery owner. But a true enologa, through and through. Humble and aware of all she has to learn, but her heart is there with completeness.
When she is not caring for her beloved young son, and working with Roberto tending to her other children, the vines, and the wine, she travels the world promoting her bottles and the magnificence of the region. She describes the place and her life there with colorful and devoted intensity that is exhilarating. We enjoyed her wines and admire her accomplishments.
