I met Tom Meadowcraft at the Wine 2.0 event and had an opportunity to taste his fabulous 2005 Zinfandel Panorama Blend.
This an exciting wine that vividly expresses the creativity that is exploding in the California wine world.
Tom's vineyard Magito www.magitowines.com, "Magito (muh-g-toe), was created to reflect the Spirit of the Magi, an ancient tribe that were revered for sharing their cultural heritage. Their acts, beliefs, and influence encouraged tolerance and greater cross-cultural understanding. Magito means to give, to share, and to enjoy with friends—what better name for a winery!" Winery - I certainly agree.
His 2005 Zinfandel Panorama Blend is like no Zinfandel you have ever tasted. It may be like no other wine you have ever tasted.
It is a blend of 6 premium vineyard grapes that I have never seen combined before.
75% Amador, Napa and Solano County Vineyards Zinfandel
8% Sonoma Mountain Scopa Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
5% Napa Valley Sarco Vineyard Syrah
5% Napa Valley Voyager Vineyard Sangiovese
2% Napa Valley Jonquil Vineyard Petite Sirah
3% Mendocino County Merlot
The result is a wine that you can't help but fall in love with. At least I did.
