I am wondering how I missed this! I love the Jersey Shore, I love hip restaurants with intriguing cuisine. So how did I miss Marilyn Schlossbach's creation of five extraordinary restaurants in my own backyard?
I obviously did not read the NY Times on June 20th of last year that reported on Marilyn's accomplish- ments in the article, From a Waitress to the Owner of a Mini-Empire and described how she as a Buddhist, "loves the feeling of making people happy through food.”
I got my first taste of her creative and delicious cuisine at the opening party of Jersey Shore Restaurant Week a couple of weeks ago. It did make me happy. :-)
I know where I am going to be heading for drinks and dinners this summer, Asbury Park.
Langosta Lounge, opened in November 2008 right on the boardwalk at 2nd Avenue, it offers nice views of the Atlantic and has a great lunch and dinner menu of many culinary delights. The cocktail menu is an eclectic take on the classics. A great place to hit when for vacation or during a mid-week escape.
Dauphin Grille located in the stately Berkley Hotel. Dauphin is the French for dolphin a play on words to represent the seasonal bistro fare with a European flare. with a full and beautiful dinning room The Dauphin Grille and The Berkeley Bar "combines 'Old School' with an innovative approach to cocktails and fine dining to bring you a exceptional sensory experience."
Labrador Lounge, is in Normandy Beach south of Asbury on the way to Lavellette. They serve up "Marilyn Schlossbach’s popular vacation-inspired cuisine." that includes goodies like Lobster Dynamite sushi roll, baby back ribs, or Marion’s crab cakes. Liquor licenses for NJ Wines only.
Trinity and the Pope, found in an early 1900s bank bulding on the corner of Mattison Ave. and Bond Street. The name refers to the common ingredients between the different cuisines of Creole and Cajun which inspire the New Orleans style dishes that are served here.
Pop's Garage is Marilyn's take on a true Mexican taqueria that can be found in season in Asbury Park, Normandy Beach and soon over in Shrewsbury.Their over stuffed burritos, savory tacos and skirt steak Jaliscos will make you think you are on the beach in Mexico.
